Training sessions/workshops:

Regular training  workshop are held at least twice weekly at the Community Centre, Ocean Shores, on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.

Other workshops will be organised in other timeslots according to need and availability of computer rooms.

Members will need to book with the Training Officer to reserve a place for pre-publicised training sessions or workshops. If members simply "drop in" they can only join the workshop or use the computers for their own purposes if the training room is not "full".

If all computers are not being used for such activities other members may quietly work on their own stuff.

Types of Training sessions/workshops:

Structured Workshops/tutorials
  • Guest "speaker" demonstrating a computer technique using specific hardware or software.
  • Structured training sessions conducted by a trainer for specific purpose eg Absolute beginners, Using E-mail.

Unstructured (DIY) Workshops:

  • Workshop activities using tutorial materials from what is available or your own self-help manuals and also working with a friend.

  • Individual members may come to use computers to do their own stuff or pairs or small groups can book a computer to work on a specific task.

  • Individual members can seek some simple help or instruction from other members present.

Priorities in Training:

Since e-mail will be our main form of communication, we need to get members up to speed on this.

  1. Training for Committee members - especially with regard to attachments.

  2. Getting a web-based email address for those members who don't have e-mail.

  3. Getting clued up with Outlook Express - how to compose and read your mail off-line and how to open attachments.

  4. Using the internet to access help files for seniors and on-line tutorials.

Attendance at meetings, training sessions and workshops by non-members:

Non members will be permitted to attend only one meeting, training session or workshop in the capacity. If they wish to participate in any further club activity they must join the club. Non-members attending any such club activity will be required to pay user fees.
